Family Policy

The aim of the course – how society understands the meaning of family and the influence of state policy towards the development of family. The course should help students learn how to plan the measures of family policy in order to achieve preferred results.
 
The course is made of two parts:
I. Family and society: Social theories of family. The development of family. The understanding of family definition: definition, forms of marriage and family, functions. Phenomena of family: choosing a friend for life, marital adaptation, conflicts and violence in family, divorce, its consequences, subsequent marriages, widowship. Family and some other social institutions: religion, education, law.
II. Family and state: state policy, its types. Family support, types and models of family support. Lithuanian family policy and support.
